In my current job search, I've applied for work as a policy, research or quantitative analyst for various governmental and private institutions. But another option is finding work as an analyst in a polling firm. I've recently applied for a very interesting job with the Pew Research Centre, based in Washington DC. The professional skills and experience I'd get from the position would be awesome.
The advantage in my case is that it suits my skills and aptitudes. As some of you have noticed, I like making lots of polls and collecting and organizing data (recall my various political compass test scatterplots). However, to be honest, if I get called for an interview and they want to hire me, I'm somewhat reluctant to leave Canada for an extended period.
Has anyone here had experience working for polling firms as a research analyst? If so, what was your experience like?
ETA: I moved this to MD. It's probably best posted there.
