How are things in Brisbane? Pull up a stool and pour yourself a cuppa.

Thank you very much, for the warm welcome.

Brisbane is fine, am looking to move back to sydney though, to be closer to family, though ultimately i wish to relocate back home to Eire. I believe it is on account of my inability to handle heat.

Moving back, for a little while, to Ireland myself...although it's tough times there for a lot of people. Whether it goes well for you probably will depend on your trade. It's a good time to look at housing there though...as for the first time in a very long time house prices are going down (a little bit). Myself and wifey will be looking into that when we go back... but I doubt if we'll last in Ireland... everything I've heard from family and from newspapers indicates massive economic badness...

Still... it'll have made everybody back home nicer... there's a lot of people back home whom wealth didn't suit... and that's, IMHO, a good thing...

Oh the devil quote...yeah... there doesn't seem to be a word - that I know of - in Irish for godless... a better educated Irishman than me would know how to form it...but I don't.

Interestingly the word for Hello... which of course you know 'Dia Duit' - God be with you... has always sat uncomfortably with me... but, I reflect on the fact that Dia is a loan word into Gaelige from Greek and that makes it slightly less painful...

Lol, if it makes you feel any better, as I understand it, Gaelic is derived from the Celtic druids, so the term "dia duit", go with god, is accustomed to the druidic belief of God, not as an entity, but as a collection of powers including Nature, Time and the universe as a whole.

Still, I prefer to stick with the less formal "Hoigh", as I too have uncomfortable emotive responses in such matters.

I assure you, my return home wont be for some time to come, there is still much that I must accomplish in Australia. I have heard, too, about the current financial state back home, leaving much to be desired.

I agree also with your opinion, though, not in a generalized contrast to home, it would seem that anywhere in the world, oftentimes, financial splendor doesn't suit, though i put it down to people character, personally.

Hi RawFire, I've been remiss in welcoming folk for a while so I'll get back into the habit and say hi, welcome and have fun...
