Former priest spills the beans

......He was accused of stealing $488,000 from St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Delray Beach, Florida during his three-year stint as pastor. When asked on the stand about his use of parish money to pay for golf fees and trips to Las Vegas he answered that it was a “small compensation” for the service he had delivered to his parish.

Three grand a week is pretty good compensation.

Tax free, I'd presume.

We're in the wrong gig, y'all.

I grew up in an Irish Catholic area and the priests seemed to live pretty well. Given that we were in the slums of the south Bronx, their rectory was a mansion compared to what we all lived in. They also routinely smelled of scotch which makes me wonder how much boozing we were supporting with our donations at mass. It was just one more thing to add to the hypocrisy list.

Perhaps they feel they need compensation for being celibate (if they are).

Father Ted (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father_Ted) & company are real enough.
