Had to laugh listening to The Edge radio station in the car this morning. With Easter coming, they had a "fat Jesus" out and about and the first person to phone in and read the sign strapped to him wins $50. The sign was just advertising a local TV show (Underbelly) based on the story of Mr. Asia, our most notorious drug dealer from the 70's and 80's. Bizarre stunt, but it didn't really get the station into too much trouble. The guy that called in and won said he thought it was hilarious and that the Christians need to lighten up. lol

Here's a couple of comments from The Edge's website:

’ll be honest, I feel the ‘Fat Jesus’ thing is kinda offensive, its not that he’s Fat so much as the sign, and the photos I feel where a bit over the line. Lets just be a little more considerate… especially in the lead up to Easter.

Hey about the whole Fat Jesus thing... I thought it was totally fine. Come on Crizzos lighten up, we are Kiwis, its in our nature to be cheeky and take the piss - Have a laugh.

Anyway my suggestion is that if Fat Jesus is scrapped tomorrow, maybe we dress him as the Easter Bunny in one of those lil playboy bunny costumes. Watch everyone complain about that instead...

As I listened to it, I couldn't help but wonder how such a stunt might go down in the US?

He wouldn't last 5 minutes. If you could even find somebody brave enough to do it.

I keep thinking of that scene in Die Hard with a Vengeance, where Simon made McLane go into Harlem wearing that sandwich board. :D

Been better. Been worse, too. Staying with my daughters for a couple of months in St Louis, then going back out on the road with the other half. So I'll be haunting the forums fairly often for a while.
