Someone mentioned The Gong Show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj3Q9l9Ivng) in another thread and then The Love Boat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icAwcByaNtY) and Fantasy Island (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwaEydIpS0E), which of course got some of the theme songs stuck in my head.

I watched The Monkees (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmH9ahaTt7k) and the Partridge Family (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOiKa51ll-k) all the time, and The Flintstones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX53PVe8Rck) and Magilla Gorilla (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2iy50bzoc0) when I was really little.

Which ones did you watch that can you remember and find?

Damn. I went to find the Beverly Hillbillies and all the soundtracks on the music clips have been disabled because they were "not approved."

I found one (http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=beverly+hillbillies+theme+song&www_google_domain=www.google.com&hl=en&client=firefox-a&emb=0&aq=0&oq=beverly+hillbillies+theme#) on Google but it isn't the TV version. There's several dozen of guys playing it into their web cam too but they aren't very good.

Well, there's The Lone Ranger, of course.

And for some reason or other a Brit children's drama series called 'William Tell' shared the same tune;)

I dug up Mr. Rogers Neighborhood (http://pbskids.org/rogers/songlist/song1_ra.html). I never saw it as a kid but I flipped by it one time as a teen when I was really stoned and I thought it was a parody of a kids show. It's so dumb I couldn't believe it.

Noggin the Nog (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jisqle37uWI) -gripping and mysterious

There was this cheesy campy vampire soap opera that was on when I was a kid that everyone raced home to see after school called Dark Shadows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jBkKFBf0rY). You know it's bad when you're a kid but you can't appreciate how truly terrible the acting is until you see it as an adult. I haven't heard the music to "Quentin's Theme" in decades and it still gave me the creeps.

Captain Kangaroo (http://kfcplainfield.com/sound/captainkangaroo.ra)

That theme may be my very earliest memory. The show is exactly 8 days older than I am, which I didn't know until just now!

I remember that, and Romper Room. I must have been no more than 2 or 3 then.

Watch with Mother (how's that for old! :p )

Most of the stuff mentioned I have watched as a kid, but the things I remember most are Tomorrow's World and the Apollo moon missions (I sat through every single one).

Later on, Star Trek (w/ JT Kirk et al) and Bewitched was another one I sometimes watched.

Of course, The Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner Hour (http://looney.goldenagecartoons.com/tv/bbrr/)

I forgot all about Green Acres (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCkmOCsI-hc). The original theme song is blocked but this, frighteningly enough, is Donald Trump singing it.

What no BBC Home Service and BBC Light Programme? And then the famous, intellectual Third Programme?

And of course AFN -- the American Forces' Network.

These (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY8ip4x2e68) might help (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC9o4oYMIqI)...

The first TV I remember was one of those huge black and white tube things that were built into big pieces of furniture, with a rabbit ear antenna and some wire coat hangers hung off that. Sometimes it would take two of us standing in awkward positions pointing the rabbit ears out the window to get some reception.

Not a kid's show, but the theme song for Omnibus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omnibus_(U.S._TV_series)) was Aaron Copeland's Fanfare for the Common Man (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzf0rvQa4Mc)

I was only 4 back then and had no idea what Omnibus was even about but I always watched it for the music.

Bob a Bobek (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf7I9ihbus8)

I love that I don't need to understand the words to laugh at it. My partner just wandered by, took one look at me giggling at cartoons in another language and shook his head and muttered something about how it was going to be a long day. Sometimes I can't believe he puts up with me and still has a great sense of humor. That's probably why he can put up with me.

No, dancer got it. It was Dudley Do Right (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q83Jqd2h0Yg&feature=PlayList&p=462F59E692D05F56&index=0). It was one of the ones that came on during the break on the Rocky and Bullwinkle show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65t-OzhlmvE).

You probably have to be pretty old to remember Felix the Cat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b73D3PsuiE) or Popeye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH1bAgqy89M&feature=related) unless they've been showing them in reruns for decades.

Now I'm trying to remember one that had a smart-ass character that I think was a bird, and a forgetful genius kind of character. It's driving me crazy because I can hear the bird's voice and remember bits and pieces of a laboratory but that's it.

The bird's name was Mr. Peobody I think, but I can't remember the name of the show.

Sorry for posting twice in a row, just working through the thread.

I loved Uncle Bob, But I think it might have been local to the Boston area. He was an artist and you could draw along with him. The following week he displayed the drawings kids sent in.

I wasn't too interested in TV until...

I dream of Genie

Usually played in the woods. But then the dialogue in that show impressed me at a time when my language skills were maturing out of childhood and into juvenile years.
