Congress is supposed to be about creating jobs, we're told. They're out there trying to destroy the automobile business. Now they're trying to destroy private aviation. Do they have no idea who it is that flies these airplanes and why? Do they have no idea who it takes to build these airplanes? They are stigmatizing the purchase of a business tool!...Businesses use these things as tools to maximize the efficiency of executive's time.

Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh!...said something I agree with. Oh noosss...the world may actually be ending.

Funny how this is never done for engineers.

In the cases of the banking and auto industries, perhaps a better tactic would have been to minimise the efficiency of executive time. Then, perhaps, they would have screwed things up less effectively.

Actually, it is done for engineers; the people most often on the corporate airplane I fly are from the construction department. We also carry middle managers, the legal department, and marketing folks. Of course we take the senior people as well. At better than $800 / hour it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to have them sitting around the South West terminal waiting for another ride after their scheduled flight has been canceled or delayed. Nor does it make a lot of sense to put them on the road for two days to visit one sight rather than 1 day to visit two or three sights.

But what am I thinking? OF COURSE it is wrong to burn Jet A for managers, better it be burnt so Grandma can take the kiddies to Disney Land.

Me bad.
