What do I mean by a moderate crisis?

Well, a crisis, for a start, but not as big a crisis as would be caused by a Yellowstone Supervolcano, or the sort of impact event that arguably killed off the dinosaurs, or the sort of volcanic lava flow that caused the Deccaan Flats, and also arguably killed off the dinosaurs.

A Tambora scale eruption, an impact event of that sort of scale of magnitude, or something slower, but inexorable, like a 1 metre rise in sea levels over the course of a couple of generations. That sort of thing.

Would current world political systems cope well, do you think? Or would politics tend to exacerbate the problems, by leading to war? Or what?

David (Sees such events as inevitable, though the timescale is unpredictable, and is not optimistic about how the political systems of the world would cope)
