Attenci, attenci! We have a blogger in the house! (And for heaven's sake, somebody please move the china out of hammer reach!)
Welcome to the Cafe! What brought you here, somebody linking to your blog? :D

Hi CWH:)
Coincidentally I watched the Comfort video from your blog this very morning. Well, over half of it. before the stupid got too hot.
I reckon this is all a plot to take over the world - first Freethought Blogs, then Sec Cafe.
Seriously, though, welcome to the board. Some of us still like the traditional discussion board, and boards like this one, blogs, you-tube channels are all part of the rich pageant of freethought, complementing each other rather than competing, IMV.
I'm even contemplating a FB page, but somehow SomeGreyBloke has put me off it.

Welcome aboard. Out of curiosity, how did you just now stumble across Secular Cafe? (Given that I've recently started following your blog a bit more regularly than I did when you were on SB.)

Thanks for the gracious welcome, everybody! I am sorry for not seeing it sooner. Indeed, I was led here by a link to CWH. I often like to track links down and see what is being said and so I registered here in order to peek in on what was being said---and now you've caught me! hahahaha
Ray and David have been very kind in making me feel like my presence here would be appreciated, so I will try to make some routine check-ins. I am an extremely busy person, as I presently teach 9 classes across 5 different universities in 3 states over the course of every 6 days. And I produce many hundreds of words for Camels With Hammers daily, so please do not take it as aloof blogger snobbery if I am not around here often but instead funneling my writing efforts straight to the blog!
But I did want to return the gracious welcome and to offer a link that at least partially answers (http://freethoughtblogs.com/camelswithhammers/2011/02/17/apostasy-as-a-religious-act-or-when-a-camel-picks-up-a-hammer/)the query about the where the name Camels With Hammers comes from.
I see that this site has 4,228 posts in the last 12 days. I take it that means this is a relatively active forum?

Define "relatively". Perhaps LP will come by shortly with some comparative numbers.
But I'll say that most of us manage to stay entertained for a while every day here. (And some of us stay on when there's other work they should be doing.... *whistles innocently*)

I'm a bit sorry. The thread title makes me think of

I grew up on a dairy farm, and know that cows are never "he".
That's still pretty damn funny, though. :D

Camels, we have some pretty famous skeptics who are occasional posters here; PZ, and Brother Sam Singleton the Atheist Evangelist, and James A. Haught, among others.
We know that you guys have your own books and blogs to write, and that's going to take up most of your online time. But I think it would be worth your while to glance at boards like the Cafe periodically. :)

Hiya and welcome, CWH!
I am an extremely busy person [...]
I see that this site has 4,228 posts in the last 12 days. I take it that means this is a relatively active forum?
I used to be very active on various boards, but these days I'm having to work while at work (;)) and only get a few minutes and not every day. I find that SC is just about right if you're pushed for time: plenty of interesting stuff, but not overwhelming; fast enough that there's no stagnation, but just about slow enough that it's possible to join in on discussions. (I've been places where, if you don't look in for a day or two, your last post in a thread will be five pages back. We do get threads like that, but mostly we seem nicely managable.)
Or in short, hope you enjoy it here :)
