Recently, I've been looking for a place to call home...the Secular Cafe might be my spot. :D

You can all call me Logan, or whatever you please. I'm a pretty easy-going guy. I hope to meet a lot of friendly users. :o

Hey, thanks. Last night I was up for a bit and was searching for a decent forum to join, then somehow, on Google, I came upon this site.

Do they have to be users? Or is friendly good enough?

Friendly works for me. :)

Thanks Bree, Neilstone & Notta. I suppose I might as well tell a little about me.

I am planning on becoming a psychiatrist, as the human mind interests me. My life is just now kick starting. I currently live in Oklahoma, the middle of the bible-belt (woo-hoo...). Somehow, I manage to put up with all the ignorance around me. I love meeting new people, journalling, and writing short stories on occasion. :)

Lucky you! I live in Arkansas, which is like the armpit of the bible-belt :D

Welcome to SC!

Sounds like you got the stinky part of the deal!! Thanks! Arkansas is a very pretty state. In Eureka Springs, my grandparents owned a sno-cone stand (well, they sold all kinds of goods) there and I would always go visit them. Those were good times. :o

There's a few of us in 'Merika's Heartland. I'm near St Louis, in solid red conservative southern Illinois.

We should try to have a meetup some day.

I'm very certain we have a member who lives in Memphis as well, so there's a handful of us here in the middle of the country :)

I was actually thinking of going up to St. Louis next summer for vacation. My boss tells me there's some great museums and such. I'd take the kids to a baseball game but they'd probably be totally bored (and tbh, so would I lol).

Greetings from Chicagoland!

Coffee's on, Teakettle's hot, soda's in the fridge, beer's in the cooler.....

Serve yourself, pull up a comfy chair, and let the meandering conversations begin!

Hi Logan. :)

If you're planning to be a psychiatrist, have you read much on Jung? I ask, because I know he was supposed to have an interest and belief in mystical and spiritual subjects, and as you can see from my username, I'm heavily interested in all of that.

Hi Logan!

I lived in central Arkansas and called it the Bible Groin.

Now I'm in Pennsylvania that has fewer Baptists but a shit-ton more Catholics.

That'd be me! In the arsehole of the bible belt.

But yeah - a Mid America meet up sounds pretty good!

It would probably be even worse if you were like me, and interested in the occult - some people think that sort of thing is "evil" and I can imagine in certain places of the world, I would get an unkind name or two thrown my way.

Still, Memphis also had Elvis! :)

Yup - just Google the West Memphis 3 if you are not already familiar with the case. They are out now, but were only locked up in the first place because they were "devil worshipers".

I was actually there at the courthouse to cheer them the day they were freed :) Was a great atmosphere, nearly everyone there was a WM3 supporter.
