Thank you for welcome.
A few words to introduce myself. I'm retired, ex local government and latterly free lance lecturer. Advocate of a secular society with particular concerns about Faith Schools. I am a regular long term poster on a larger, somewhat combative, forum but was looking for a smaller, calmer, place with more specific subjects.
Post on forums in an attempt to keep brain active and; with limited success; to delay senility.

Welcome, Junior.
I share your concern about faith schools. Do you belong to the NSS?

Hi Richard46 and welcome to SC.
I share your concerns about faith schools (as I'm sure many here do) and I'm also not a great fan of communal acts of worship within state schools either.
I find this a fun place to be and certainly less 'aggressive' that a few other forums out there. Not to say there aren't disagreements but we do our best to keep them reasonably civilised.
Glad to have you on board.

Yes indeed. Recently had some contact with them over removing inaccuracies, (about exemption from school collective worship as it happens) on the Catholic Education Service site. Keith PW was very helpful.

Welcome, Junior.
:D Quite wishing I had put Junior as my UserName now. Richard46 is the name I have almost always used on forums though. 46 is my YOB of course.

Welcome, Richard. :)
You sound like an old hand at discussion boards. A lot of the core membership here started out at the old Internet Infidels board, and have been through a number of others before winding up here. Our admin staff has something more than 60 years of total experience on db's, so we like to think we usually run a smooth-sailing ship here. Our membership is pretty international, with perhaps a slight majority of British posters, rather than American- but still a good mix.
What was the larger board, if you want to say?

Welcome, Richard! Yes, indeed, I find the Cafe a sanctuary after some of the snake pits masquerading as internet forums out there.

No problem I post regularly on a forum called Digital Spy mainly in the General Discussion section.

Ah, Digital Spy. Never got stuck in (can only be in so many places at once), but viewed often enough. Welcome, welcome, thrice welcome!
Local gov, eh? Whereabouts? I've been running up HCC's internet bill since about 2000...
