Mostly a pacifist...I don't believe in Cap Punishment or Abortion. I don't believe in most acts of war. I believe in God. I believe in the Bible, but I am not your typical Christian. I am neither liberal nor conservative. I believe mankind has so twisted the message of Christ that it is become hypocrisy and true faith is a rare thing.
I love science and do not believe that science and God are incompatible. Science makes no claim about God. God makes no claim about science.
I believe in separation of church and state but as much to protect faith as to protect government.
I do not like extremists of any kind.
Welcome to SC, I hope that you enjoy your time here :)
Can I ask how you found us?

Welcome! Hope you enjoy your time here.
God makes no claim about science.
While "God", whatever that might be in your definition, might not make any claims about science the Bible certainly does. Or at the very least, it makes claims that are scientifically testable.
Anyway, that's all for another thread and another time :) Again, welcome!

Can I ask how you found us?
Thats for me to know and you to find out! :D
Actually, I was a member here several years ago. You may remember me as Lisa0315. I was a "pet fundie" at Christian Forums before then, as in, I went to the Apologetics section and actually (gasp) defended and befriended people who did not believe as I do. I even spent some time at err...I cannot remember the name of the forum, but it was a section in an atheists only forum. If I remember right, that section was closed down and we all ended up here.
I left for a time because I was dealing with a lot of depression and alot of confusion in my life, most of which was due to the break with my fundamentalist beliefs.
Some of the folks I was quite fond of are Danhalen, Raven, Bear, gosh, so many others, I cannot remember them all. I had a few enemies from the fundie camp as well but oddly enough I don't even remember their names.
But, I missed the discussions, the intellectual stimulation, the strange and sometimes wonderful lessons I learned. So, I am back.

OMG, Lisa! Of course many of us remember you :) Sounds like you may have completely forgotten the Grotto, but you're one of the people there that I'd missed very much. I was very sad when I realized on facebook that you had defriended me :(
Now if just Mrs. Sidhe, Haley and Moriah would show up (and Puck and Garnet posted more lol) nearly all my favorite forum ladies from way back when would be here :)

Actually, the first thing that springs to my mind is the placing of patterned sticks to cause goats (I believe) to breed according to the pattern on the sticks :D
But the things you mention as well, lol.

Was just thinking, you should come join us over at the Battle of the Movie Actors (http://www.secularcafe.org/showthread.php?t=15488) thread! It's our current competition, we've had quite a few (http://www.secularcafe.org/showthread.php?t=14738) 'Battles' and I think it's something you might enjoy.

Well, the second link in my post there is a compilation of links to previous battles we've had.
But it basically works like this, no matter what the topic is:
2 contestants are randomly matched against each other. Everyone is allowed to vote for one or the other and is free to comment why they voted the way they did. The first contestant to get 5 votes moves on to the next round and the other contestant is eliminated.
The final round is only slightly different, in that voting is allowed until a certain date and all votes are tallied to discover the winner of the competition.
Our current competition is a battle of movie actors. Just jump to the end of the thread and look for the most recent post by Pendaric, this one actually (http://www.secularcafe.org/showthread.php?p=299740&#post299740), to see who is matched up against whom. Then vote for whichever one you want! I actually am passing on this particular round because I'm not familiar enough with either of the actors.

Welcome Lulu.
I love science and do not believe that science and God are incompatible. Science makes no claim about God. God makes no claim about science.
Agreed God and science are not incompatible for the simple reason since I believe God created the Universe, then it fits God created all of the natural rules that function within it. Physics, the speed of light, gravity, protons, how energy works. While something like the development of the four Laws of Thermodynamics may be a human interpretation of how heat and energy work, it was God which set these rules into place. Thus, those who argue against Evolution are going against natural laws of the Universe and, thus, going against God.
