From here (http://tfnblog.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/ed-board-extremists-target-social-studies/).
The Texas State Board of Education is set to appoint a social studies curriculum “expert” panel that includes absurdly unqualified ideologues who are hostile to public education and argue that laws and public policies should be based on their narrow interpretations of the Bible.
TFN has obtained the names of “experts” appointed by far-right state board members. Those panelists will guide the revision of social studies curriculum standards for Texas public schools. They include David Barton of the fundamentalist, Texas-based group WallBuilders, whose degree is in religious education, not the social sciences, and the Rev. Peter Marshall of Peter Marshall Ministries in Massachusetts, who suggests that California wildfires and Hurricane Katrina were divine punishments for tolerance of homosexuality.
That's right, David "liar for Jeebus" Barton is being asked to be an 'expert' to help write social studies standards in Tex-ass.

Are there no depths to which they will not sink?

My solution: Let Texas secede from the nation and do their own thing. Have a long enough transition process for the thinking folks to get out, and all the bubbas, bible-thumping bigots, creotards, etc to move in. Texas is a huge state with plenty of natural resources. So we'll loose a little oil...we'll more than make up for it by a collective IQ increase of 15-20 points.

No, No, No!! Some one has to fix this. I was born and raised in Texas, and I am going to be moving back there in 5 years. Some one has to fix this before I go back there to live. So...uh...get busy. You only got 5 years.

Most of that article is based upon a press release from the Texas Freedom Network. The press release can be found here (http://www.tfn.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=5778).

I'm with you there BigEvil. I was born and raised in Texas and lived there until I entered the Army. It is my State of residence. It is my home and where my family is. I have about 10 more years to go overseas and then I retire. At that point I would like to move back to Texas. At that time I will have a 14 year-old and a 10 year-old. I am VERY concerned at where the schools will be at that time.

You guys really ought to count your, err, blessings.

Here in South Africa we have rapists, murderers, nepotists and fraudsters sitting in our new cabinet, to the overwhelming joy of our "enlightened" black electorate. Jacob Zuma, our new president, has the equivalent of a 6th-grade education... and... err... that's it. He's been tried for rape, he's been tried for corruption. Each time the bleating of "four legs good, two legs bad" has drowned out the truth, and he emerges as "the people's champion".

And with a 2/3rds majority, and the power to change the constitution, to boot.

Lawd help uz. I'd take religious idiots over these ANC morons any day.

Hear, hear.
That reminds me so much of India. :o

But you won't like the religious morons --- they want their uneducated guntoting believers to run everything and have the rest bow down to them.
So it will be even a little bit worse.
