I'm not watching it, but I will say that that's been the norm for Whedon.
I normally like his work. Haven't been able to 'get' dollhouse though...

i wonder if it will be like buffy and each season will have a new 'big bad'

Hope you didn't start with the last episode. that would explain confusion on your part, though. I can't imagine trying to make sense of it without keeping up with the series.
I think all the episodes are still on foxes website, and I bet you can get it on hulu.com. It somewhat makes more sense if you watch ALL the episodes.
And yes, in my opinion it is fucking awesome. It would rock with someone else, but I love eliza dushku as an actress. Just the right type of physical, aggressive, edgy role for that lady.

i think i've only missed one?
spoiler alert
dominic in the attic is a bit of a trip, i think that since he was there when alpha went apeshit he could be in cahoots on some level maybe? does that mean that dominic or alpha has been planted the stuff for the imprints in giving the messages to agent ballard?
mind effer :D

Mebe if I had been keeping up with it, the crap that bothered me would be less.
I'll see about jumping in... I do love my Whedon. Even if it does seem he has two stories in him, and he keeps reframing them...
Any one remember the They Might Be Giants Song?
I've got two songs in me, and I just wrote the third
Don't know how I found the inspiration or where I got the words
There's just two songs in me, and
This is number Three!

It is interesting - and definitely attempting to confuse the audience.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but i recall a shot of a semi nude man on a bed writing one of the messages to Ballard the FBI agent - I assume that was Alpha.
Personally my money on the mole is Adelle DeWitt - because of the way she seems to be protecting Alpha such as trying to keep her clear of the situation in "Echoes" and the flashbacks of her recruiting Echo "we've been doing this dance for 2 years". She obviously has a hidden agenda, and is not afraid of using people.
Of course if you were really going to screw with peoples' minds you'd have Ballard be a doll as well....

i thought the same thing about adelle and agent ballard!! i thought she was going to kill victor in the episode when she 'hired' victor to be her english boyfriend for the weekend!
i thought the whole echoes episode was totally a setup to recruit new actives..the guy who 'stole' the drug ends up being recruited in the end to be an active...every episode is an exercise in 'what.....the.......fuck'
i'm still trying to figure out what their 'purpose' is....when do you think they'll tell us? :)

The problem I have with the concept is that the people who volunteer as a method of pain/grief avoidance will "wake up" in the same mental state.
Where's the escape? What's the point?

Where's the escape? What's the point?Well, if it were doable, I wouldn't do it, so I don't know, but many people do shit that is incomprehensible to me, so it's not beyond my ability to imagine that there would be lotsa people that might volunteer for something like this.

I WOULD, however, not mind waking up with a little Kung Fu. You know, if it wasn't any trouble...
