Hmmm. I kinda spammed a few forums with this, and it has generated pretty much no interest. This surprises me, as stem cell research was one of the key issues of the last fucked up decade, as was democracy. Here the US government is asking for public input (very democratic of them) over one of the issues that pitted religion against science, and no one seems to really give a shit. I'm a bit baffled by this. Is this really that unimportant?

I think it has become less of an issue because the Obama administration has already loosened guidelines for stem cell research. And with advances in technology, the use of fetal stem cells will likely become a moot point anyway. Why use them once you can derive stem cells from the patient that will be a perfect match?
