Hi! It took a while, (over a month) but I finally got around to activating my account! I almost lost interest because it took a few days to receive my activation code, during that time I was traveling then when I came back, I didn't remember to checkfor it.

It seems pretty cozy here. Think I'll take a stromboly around the ole gomboly, and see what's happening.

Thanks for the welcome Lugubert and everyone.

高杰 (Gao Jie) is My Chinese name and it means Tall Hero (or something like that). I'm thinking about changing that name though, because I don't really feel like a hero, and Jie with a different character is a very common name for a girl, so I get some strange looks from chinese people until I write the character for them. :( ha ha.

I'm a U.S. citizen teaching English (or trying to at least) in Shenyang, China, I plan on being here until next June, then I will return to the states. I've been here almost exactly one year now, one year down, one to go.

Oh hey... I know a couple of other heathens who are westerners over in China. MrFrosty relocated about a year and a half ago, and William went over about six months ago to teach English. I don't recall where William's at, but MrFrosty is in the Nanshan area. I don't know Chinese geography... so that could be hell and gone from where you're at. I just figured it might be nice to know there are some others over there :)

I didn't know Nanshan either but google maps shows me that it's way south of Shenyang, pretty damn far in fact, take the right fork at Shanghai keep going to at least to hell and gone and maybe all the way to hell and back.

I'll look for Mr Frosty and Williams posts and perhaps get some more perspective.
