The Minnesota Supreme Court has declared Al Franken the winner in last fall's disputed senatorial election. (http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/06/30/franken.ruling/index.html)

The unanimous opinion ruled that Franken "received the highest number of votes legally cast" and is entitled "to receive the certificate of election as United States senator from the state of Minnesota."

How long before Norm Coleman files an appeal? In three...two...one...

Where can he appeal? To the US Supreme Court?

He could try however I think that it's extremely doubtful that the US Supreme Court would take the case.

Will he? Is there any word from the Coleman campaign?

Coleman led Franken on election night by a margin of 206 votes out of more than 2.9 million cast. The margin was narrow enough to trigger a recount, however, and that process ended in January with Franken leading by 225 votes.
That's an odd way to say it. How can you lead by 206 votes, if you're really trailing by 225?

The recount looked at some of the absentee ballots that had been (illegally) discounted the first time around. So, on election night Coleman was leading. He told Franken to give it up. The automatic recount was triggered, Coleman came out on the losing end, and he continued to argue and appeal until it reached the Minnesota Supreme Court.

'Bout damned time, too.

I'll bet a cup of coffee that, even with a 60 seat, filibuster proof Senate, the Democrats will still be unable to get much done.

Any takers?

The picture of Franken I saw on a right-wing message board was of him in adult diapers, holding a giant teddy bear, from on of his skits on Saturday Night Live. You can bet that every single time Franken makes a statement supporting Obama, a similar picture is going to show up from the extreme right wing.

This is already happening on the TR CF thread.

They probably found it on the same right-wing board I saw it on.
