I'd like to be the quality tester for one of the Amsterdam seed companies- or even better, the owner. :D

I would love to own the drive in here in town. It needs some tlc and they don't ever do fix ups. That or a theater where I could show older and less mainstream movies. Like showing something like Clockwork Orange with discussion after. And of course Rocky Horror every Halloween. I love the whole theater experience.

I'm happy with what I do now for a living. Uh...I'd be a lot happier if I won the lottery and never had to work again, though!

I have my perfect job, unfortunately I don't have it in my perfect place.

I want that job but in a yarn store and it has to have a garden out back too.

A RPG tester.

Either type.

I love role-playing games and hand-held artillery!

Or maybe a lego set designer.

Or a woodworking artist ...

Or a master distiller ... :drinking:

I know this is a light-hearted thread but frankly I'm close enough to panic that the ideal job is any job that is STABLE and tolerable.

Wow. I've applied for another perfect-sounding job. Even more perfect than the last, because it will involve many varied tasks, a very reasonable commute (on the metra line), and utilize the full scope of my skills.

I don't expect anything to come of my application, but I had to submit it.

Restaurant critic.

Oh, wait. I am one already. :D

I don't actually earn a living at it, but it's very a nice little supplement.

Freelance writer. Which is, as it happens, what I plan to be when I retire from the Army in 10 years. I still want the safety net of my military pension so I have to get that 20 in.

I would love a job where every day brings something new and interesting, where I am challenged regularly, where I get to use a wide range of my skills, abilities and creativity, that isn't unpleasantly stressful but instead, fun, where learning is a constant, where I get to meet and work with brilliant and interesting people from all over the world, where I feel I contribute something useful to the body politic and of course, where I get paid lots for what I do.

Wait! with the exception of the great pay, I'm fortunate to already have that job.

With the payment that would be something like "boss of the Smithsonian". My line of fantasy, too.

I'm not sure...I can see the "boss" jobs being overly stressful with a high work/leisure ratio - the trade-off for high pay?

I'm running away with Jobar...after I retire. I only have to work 14 years total to get free flight benefits for life so I've got to get that out of the way and then me and Jobar are going to see what kind of trouble we can stay out of in Amsterdam!!! :D

Professional sci-fi/Fantasy book reader. I don't want to have to give my impression or discuss them - just read them. And I want to get paid a lot to do so. <sigh> That would be nice.

In the interim, I'm pretty happy with my job, and it actually exists :p

A while back one of my lecturers told me about someone (I can't remember who) who was poet-in-residence at the Science Museum in London.

I've been wracked with jealousy every single day since. One day that will be me.
