I thought I'd kick off this topic with the guy who constructed a full-size Dalek (from Doctor Who) entirely from matchsticks (http://www.chichester.co.uk/library/VIDEO-Dalek-made-entirely-of.5675830.jp).

The Dalek, which Brian has nicknamed 'Stick', is fully operational.

It is mounted on castors enabling it to be moved around and, with the help of his sons Simon and Steven, Brian fitted an mp3 player voicebox inside the model which plays the terrifying command – 'exterminate, exterminate'.

Flashing lights, a magnifying glass at the end of the telescope and a fly net on the inside of the helmet helped to give the Dalek its finishing touches.

I suppose the death-ray projector is not yet hooked up because of health and safety concerns.

Wow, this is evidence that the old adage "some people have way too much time on their hands" is absolutely true.

I have to add though, that I believe that nothing is a waste of time or money if it brings you enjoyment.

This isn't strange, per se, but it's still not exactly run-of-the-mill. In fact, it's FUCKING AWESOME.

Whoops, I just realised I made a pun!

I just blow dead goats. Costs nothing and the goats don't mind.

:rolling:

FB, would that be a hobby, or a fetish?

I play a strange little word game, usually while I'm eating- I try to extract words from the printing on cereal boxes or posters around my kitchen, using a set of rules which I have come up with over the course of years. I won't bother explaining the rules here, because it's totally pointless- but I do think it might help exercise the verbal areas of my brain, like doing crossword puzzles.

I have an odd little numbers game that I subconsciously play with number plate digits (groups of three or more). The aim is to link the three+ digits together by performing arithmetic with them. You can use the derivatives of your intermediate steps to make associations.

For example, say you have a digit sequence of 269.

6/2=3, and 3+6=9. So that links the 6 and the 9. Or 9x2=18, and 18/6 = 3 (another link). 3+2=5; 5*9=45; 45/3=15 and 6+9=15 (another convoluted link).

Or 9-2=7; 7-6=1; 7x2=14; 14+1=15

Sometimes they're pretty hard, like 170.
