happy to see you posting here.

I'd love to hook up with you and Talulah for a beer and pool again sometime. Now that sounds like a plan. I'm hobbling around on a bum knee right now (knee surgery), but I should be able to walk on it almost normal soon. PM me when you might have a free evening, and let's go somewhere and shoot some bad pool. :)

And thanks for the welcome, all. (And thanks to Jobar for the note and invitation here.) I'm digging this board. No drama? Shit yeah. Now you're singing my tune. :)

Life's good, Diana. I recently bought a new house, got a scholarship, and went vegan--not in that order. :) Other than my ongoing efforts to correct my knee problems so I can run again, 2009 is treating me well. You?

Have you had any contact with Iron Man?

I've been following your blog diana. That's a nice house. Thanks! We're having a bit of fix-up stuff done here and there. Nothing major.

I now know what it's like to live in a castle. You should come visit sometime. (Really. I understand it's a bit of a trip, but if you're in these parts, give us a call.)

Hi Diana. Good seeing you here.

Have you had any contact with Iron Man?Why, hello, SD!

I haven't heard from him in a while, but then, I'll sometimes go for months (years?) not checking the Yahoo account he originally contacted me on. He may have written to me on that, but I haven't checked it in forever.

Interesting sort, wasn't he? He originally wrote me a rather involved email in response to something he read on my first internet site. I responded in an uncharacteristically benign questioning manner, which seemed to encourage him to bury himself deeper. I responded to a couple of things, then suggested he check out IIDB, and he was off. Within a month, I think, he was atheist, his questions having all been answered. Heh.

He reminded me of my big brother, frankly. My big bro (Noel, born 29 Sept...do the math :)), has always assumed, as soon as he began to study something, that he was an expert. Neil (Iron Man) came across the same way. I wonder how he is now? For all his assholishness, he has a good heart. I hope he's well.

He was invited by the other Diana, d., or such is my understanding. I think it was perhaps a case of mistaken identity.

And thanks for the welcome, all. (And thanks to Jobar for the note and invitation here.) I'm digging this board. No drama? Shit yeah. Now you're singing my tune. :)

You're entirely welcome- we old EoG mods have to stick together, y'know. ;)

At some unspecified point in the future I fully intend to do a North American tour, including visiting the various people I've met in this community. I intend to take in one of Jobar's get togethers and then move around from there.

I'll look forward to meeting you.

You and I both. I had a nasty fall in June and have buggered a ligament. It's not going to get better on its own, so I am hoping to have surgery by the Autumn.

I'm happy that you're here (so far, anyway), but who the fuck are you? This is my party, bitch.

Sorry about beamishboy's interruption. He's rather young, so I hope you'll forgive him. I am going to put my mod hat on and move his posts to his own thread. :crackwhip:

You and I both. I had a nasty fall in June and have buggered a ligament. It's not going to get better on its own, so I am hoping to have surgery by the Autumn.Yow! That requires more invasive surgery (as opposed to my meniscal arthroscopy). You'll be a while on your butt with that one (but I imagine you're already slower than you were, thanks to the injury).

Buy some good books. :)

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hola, nice to see you again. What happened to your knee?

reddHi, reddhedd! :)

I got degenerative tears in both medial menisci from running 5+ miles a day for, oh, 25 years. I also roughed up the cartilage under the kneecaps. The cure is arthroscopic surgery to trim out the shredded tissue. Apparently, it's the shreds that cause me pain.

Long term, the cure is to take up a new sport. :(

One of my second cousins, much older than I, recently had knee replacement surgery. He's too old to do a lot of running- but to hear him tell it, if his muscles would handle it, his new knees certainly could! He gets about far better than he's done in many years.

Doc said I have about 50% cartilage in my right knee now. That isn't bad, but it's a strong hint from my body that I should take up cycling or swimming, if I want to still be walking in 20 or 30 years.

Yowch! That sounds damned painful...is it a long recovery period?

What's your chosen sports replacement? 'Cause if it's swimming, there's a river at Jobar's place...

Swimming and bicycling. Jobar's is a bit of a commute for me anymore. Lucky for me, I have a swim spa in the basement....
