Police in Russia have arrested three homeless men suspected of killing a man, eating part of the body and selling other parts to a kebab shop.

It sounds like urban myth, but presumably it's not.

Ewww. That's disgusting. The guy was already dead and couldn't care but they did it to themselves.

(*has 'swift' stuck in my head now).

Sweeny Todd all over again! Yuk! Yuk!

Why blame especially the kebab?

Cannibals can adapt to various styles of cuisine.

why the auto knocking? It could have tasted fucking awesome.

there was a serial killer russian butcher years back who did something akin to the guy in Delicatessen during famine years IIRC. Take in drifter workers, kill them and restock the shelves.

FWIW the best kebab IN THE WORLD, is made by this guy.

I bet he could even make a long pig version mouthwateringly good, his wood fired lamb one is something special indeed.

People who aren't keen on kebabs simply haven't had a good one. Or they're vegetarian.

I've never had a good kebab, that's true......and I'm a little nervous about what the contents might be! Reconstituted anything just doesn't appeal to me.

On a more serious note......ewwwwwwwwwwww horrible mental images!

go to Fethiye in turkey, to the indoor produce market and have one of those wood fired bad boys, from the cafe near the fish market. I promise you your mouth will still be watering an hour later. :)

There's a lot more to kebabs than just a dodgy doner from your local takeaway. Proper Turkish kebabs are probably the nicest food on earth.

I've heard human tastes like pork.

apparently so according to the long pig Monika that cannibals used to use.

so then, if it were freely offered (or even vat grown) , who'd give it a go? I would

In a similar vein:

Four people have been arrested in Peru on suspicion of killing dozens of people in order to sell their fat and tissue for cosmetic uses in Europe.

ha, blame fight club for that one no?

Or maybe they learnt it from the Nazis that fled to South America

I hate lamb, this is the problem! I'd eat beef ones, though.

I'm sorry. I did try but there is clearly no helping you.
Beef kebab? WTF? NO. That is against the rules. :)

You CAN get a chicken one though, that was bloody nice too if only a fraction as delicious as the lamb one.

Chicken would suit me much better, I believe.

i'm still shaking my head that there are meat eating people out there who dont like lamb. :)

I don't even remember what it tastes like because I haven't had it since I was a child.

I don't think lamb is anywhere near as common as beef, at least in the UK. I don't mind it, but I rarely eat it.

I just think it tastes gross. It's not some "OMG don't eat the cute animals" thing...I've tried and liked veal after all...

I've eaten:

venison
octopus
pheasant
hare
lobster
crab
kangaroo
antelope

and probably some more I'm forgetting.

Crab is common here. I've always been squeamish about meat and don't experiment much but I unknowingly ate alligator last month. Seriously, it tasted like chicken.

I'll happily give anything a try once (although maybe not insects).

I wouldn't try the frogs legs because all I could think of was formaldehyde.

i've tried a bunch of different animals, that list of Pens, plus:

Bugs of some description in some sweet coating (crunchy and nutty but fairly tasty once you got over the mental block) ,
sea slug (fucking horrible, salty and sluggy) ,
Moose (like an even leaner venison) ,
all manner of squiggly weird nameless seafood when i was in Malaysia, fuck knows what half of it was.
Goat (nom, they like goat in turkey) ,
Rabbit (used to have theat quite regularly as a nipper at grans, like it)
Caribou (again with the moose and venison comparison)
Horse (somewhere between beef and venison )
Snake (some sort of constrictor) tasted like juicy chicken.
Crocodile (again with the chicken but i thought a bit of a fishy edge on it)

I also dig most forms of offal/pates etc with the exception of tripe which i dont have a lot of time for, though the Italians cook it pretty well.

Still on the list are, bear and those little finches that the french drown, in booze, roast and eat whole, plus anything i never tried before of course.

Good versions of tripe (besides Italian) if you happen to come across them:
French, Turkish (fairly ubiquitous and cheap in Europe), Czech.
