I hope our resident apologist for Islam will say something about this, though I can't anticipate what he would say.

There is an Islamic apologist here. cool
well whoever you are, your prophet is a nonce and the reason for this latest bit of medieval justice is simply that Islam is a retarded and violent, not to mention misogynistic religion that treats women as property and consequently punishes them harshly for daring to have a thought or wish for a life of their own, in any way shape or form. "That very idea must be stomped on because, well because we dont want those dirty menstruating whores getting ideas do we? " The limpid hardons of the poor sexually repressed, slogan spouting morons would be just too threatened by any sense of personal femininity. Radical Islamic guys are utterly scared of women and consequently need to beat them down like the confused small boy pulling the pigtails of the girl he likes because he is incapable of communicating with her yet has an urge to do SOMETHING (of course he'll grow out of it, these fucking idiots grow INTO it and lend their adult sadism to the equation.
Of course radical Islam in a country that already seems to LOVE being utter cunts to each other is even more at home. In fact it feeds on that violence and divisiveness like the virus it is (in case you think i am biased, Xtianity is more akin to cancer) .

His answer was that a man was also stoned to death for adultery.

I don't think I'll ever understand what goes on inside the head of Muslims who agree with the barbaric and arcane stoning to death of someone for any crime. But for having sex with someone it's just absurd. How can they argue for a world wide blasphemy law when pracitces like this go on?

They see defence of rules are superior to living one's life as one pleases.
I am always a bit puzzled by the idea of "Allah the most merciful", when the same Allah is supposed to want people to be stoned to death or tortured by repeated burning in hell...
One could say much the same about the Christian "God of Love".
I have come to the tentative conclusion that these gods are really thought to be extremely nasty, and calling them "merciful" or "loving" is a kind of whistling in the dark, designed to fend off their attacking side.

I'm a few chapters through The End of Faith by Sam Harris and I'm pretty appauled at some of the things that have been done in the name of allah in the last decade. The protest at the bikini competition in Nigeria, the rioting in India where people were massacred including a pregnant womans feotus being cut out from her. Muslims are capable of religiously motivated evil that is just so sickening.

I had a discussion with a muslim ex-colleague about this very question.
His answer was that it is "For the pleasure of Allah". EVerything that you do that supports Islamic doctrine, is "for the pleasure of Allah".
Mercy is not for humans to give, it is for Allah to give. Humans must just ensure that everything they do is for "the pleasure of Allah", and if stoning an adulterer is "for the pleasure of Allah", then the person(s) doing the stoning need not even concern themselves with Allah's judgment.
Needless to say, this human rationalization scares the living shit out of me.

For accuracy's sake, the riots in India in this decade that you mention were against Muslims by Hindus not by Muslims.

Thank you I stand corrected: perhaps evidence of my automatic conclusion that it would be Muslims. Having stayed in Bali for a month I wouldn't have thought Hindu people capable of such acts.
