Did this poor girl ever have a chance with a mother like that? First crime against her child was to lumber her with a silly name. Then she no doubt protected her from any effective sex education, so no wonder another teenage mother adds to the statistics. Next what looked like an attempt at a shotgun wedding, no doubt influenced by all the publicity surrounding the VP bid, and now this.

I look for Sarah to leave Todd and hook up with Levi herself. She could then be the mother of her own grandchild (as was suspected all along).

My analysis:

Sarah Palin is an obsessive control freak. This helps her be successful in some things, like Republican Politics in Alaska, but is pretty much a fail in a working mom.

Bristol doesn't much like being controlled by mommie dearest, and so gets pregnant to have something of her own to control. Baby daddy has genuine concern and care for his child, but that threatens Bristol's ability to have something of her own to control, so she spurns anything he might try to do that seems to her to in some way affect that control.

All speculation of course, but it fits with the minimal evidence available, I think.

Why assume it is anything more on the daughter's part than being thrust into a situation she didn't really plan for properly? Why crap on her, instead of her damn mother?
