Pretty funny:

http://www.news.com.au/national/us-missionairies-called-to-save-godless-city/story-e6frfkvr-1225825476799

DARWIN has been "claimed" by a southern US evangelist family who plan to set up a mission in the place they call "the unreached city".

The Gibbs family, Baptists from North Carolina, say they read about Darwin's high rates of drinking and sexually transmitted diseases and know the place needs help, the NT News reports.

The Gibbs family are traditional Baptists believing the world was created in six literal days, women should not be pastors, and people should be immersed in water after salvation.

Knowing people in the NT they will either be ignored or invited for a good booze-up at the local pub. :D

I was going to say, they're over a hundred years too late. But then I realize you didn't mean that Darwin, but that Darwin.

Either way they're over 100 years too late.

Or Darwin could become the new evangelical stronghold in Australia, haha.

No, no, no.

Do they always have to do things wrong Down Under?

You're supposed to feed them to lions...

We're just aiding them in their quest to find a crocoduck.

I'm sure there's some WW2-era pillboxes and shit left over in Darwin from the preparations for the anticipated Jap invasion. A coat of paint and some light oil for the machine guns is all that's needed to give a grand and warm welcome.
