I thought the Star Wars family guys was awesome, and there is the odd shot of gold in there, but basically agree otherwise.

Yeah, I've pretty much switched over to Cleveland now.

no. star wars family guy sucked also.

haven't seen cleveland but since it's pretty much just family guy with black people, i think we can safely conclude it sucks, too

One of the UK stations (E2) played the first 2 Cleveland episodes this week. It was moderately funny, but I doubt it will remain so very long since they've probably run all the jokes already.

i confess to not having watched the Cleveland show, not having TV and all that, but seeing as he was possibly the most unfunny character on FG, i'm having trouble seeing a standalone as doing anything other than sucking.

Oddly enough, it was given an extension to develop some new shows.

Family Guy has made me laugh hard enough to start an asthma attack. Cleveland? Meh.

*sigh* American humour is lost on me! ;)

I prefer the classic silliness of Monty Python, the Carry On series, etc.

I much prefer "American Dad" now. It seems to go places Family guy would not. Mind you, Lois is still the hottest cartoon woman - hotter than Marge Simpson.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that out loud.

I love Family Guy. I have yet to watch an episode of Cleveland. We decided to watch Lost and are about to start the 3rd season this weekend. Spoilers are everywhere and I have to plug my ears and close my eyes and go la alalalalalalala!

Haswell, everytime I look at the back of my ipod where it says ipod I see ipood now. THANKS.

Me and my kids watch Family Guy, Cleveland Show and American Dad every week. We love all three. Simpsons isn't as good any more but still worth watching and South Park is the show we look forward to the most.

This disgraceful of me but I think everything at some level is about sexuality!
And, altho' my track record at marriage and being a conformist Family Mum veers along way from 'the norm', I wonder if , in the series the guy is sexy or just likes to watch the box and his and his good lady's bed linen is always tidy?

Haswell

Family Guys rocks, American Dad rocks and Cleveland is misogynistic, unfunny and lame. Seriously if they wanted a good spin off from Family Guy why not pick Quagmire?

But for the Family Guy the word is close your eyes. Ignore the other reality where pain is rampant and be above all normal.

You object to the misogyny in Cleveland and want a spin off about a man that is misogyny personified?

Family Guy used to be funny. Can't remember when it jumped the shark but it did so in a spectacular fashion. Cleveland was dull. American Dad is okay.

Family Guy had some good moments in the first few seasons, but it's nothing but a platform for Seth McFarlane now, devoid of real humor. I've gone back to the Simpsons.

So, flicking through the channels, I saw family guy had just started, so thought I'd watch it to judge for myself.

Sanshou, I want those minutes of my life back.

It's had one or two reasonable moments, but it wasn't very good.

I hate Family Guy. I wonder if there's a Family Guy vs Southpark disagreement happening out there. On the other hand I love Southpark. I find the humour in Family Guy retarded and unsophisticated. It's just one stupid gag after another. I like comedy that develops its metaphors rather than resorts to a sequence of Christmas-Cracker jokes. Liking Family Guy seems to depend on you liking silly accents, stupid one-liners and constant absurdity.

Yup, I don't like Family Guy.

There are, of course, other things to do than watch Family Guy, or even talk about it. Just change the channel or turn it off.

(And here I am talking about it.)

Two episodes of South Park were thinly concealed blasts of Family Guy. Season 10 episodes 3 and 4, called "Cartoon Wars". Matt and Trey despise Family Guy :)

In the first of the Futurama movies Fry has a "Family Guy: 12 laughs a Year" calender on his 21st Cent. appartment wall. I suspect some of the Futurama guys don't have much time for it either. :)

Given that Futurama is the brainchild of Matt Groening, creator of the other show Family Guy habitually steals and recycles from, one can hardly feel surprised.

It's like the eternal Flinstones debate: Betty or Wilma?

Lois is clearly hotter than Marge though, and not a prude and a busy body as well.

I love familly guy but the baby is the only decent character in it now and the dog, if it weren't for their adventures I doubt I'd watch it. I especially like the one where stewie meets himself as a 40 year old virgin.

I also liked the one where the familly have a big fight.

I love Southpark too, especially WoW and The Coon episodes which are hilarious.

I watched a few South Park episodes online, including the cartoon wars episodes, to remind myself. They were enjoyable, but it's not that much funnier than FG. I loved the pee flooding the water park thing, though. Especially where they pee on the monkeys and assume there's something in pee that causes hostility. :D

I'll retreat to FRDB et al, and count myself lucky, I hope you are ok with that, I doubt you care, but then I care not about you so everyone wins. Fuck this for a game of soldiers I'm not into dumb ass idiots.

Though actually, dislike the woman as I do, it does seem like a pretty cheap and nasty shot to me, from what the BBC reports.

I saw the episode - they didn't mock the downs as such, in fact as the downs girl was quite nasty and controlling, to my mind the writers treated her just like any other person.

That's why it's easy for them to be faithful.
But to be true to the thread, I haven't got a clue about the series.

In today's NY Times: ‘Family Guy,’ Palin and the Limits of Laughter (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/20/arts/television/20family.html?hp)

In an e-mail message sent to The New York Times, Ms. Friedman wrote, “I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor.” She added that in her family, “we think laughing is good,” and that she was raised by her parents “to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life.”

Ms. Friedman continued, “My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.”

Yes, Palin just got pwned by someone with Downs Syndrome.
