I've joined this forum because it was mentioned as a good place to be post-RD.net forums. I wasn't very active there, mostly just a lurker.

I'm 30, a student - I promise I'll finish my degree one day! - and have never been religious and am forever grateful that I was brought up in a non-believing home. I never had anything to rebel against :yay:

Look forward to reading some interesting discussions, no expectations, I just really like knowing there are little safe havens of logic, even on the internet. ;)

We're quite a bit smaller than RD was; but many of us went through the breakup of the Internet Infidels forum, back in 07/08, so we know what losing our internet home feels like, from personal experience.

We started the Cafe as a discussion board only. SC isn't just tacked on to some website as an afterthought- which was a large part of the reason II failed, and the Dawkins board too. For both of those, the owners considered the website more important than the discussion board. While we know from sad experience that there are many ways to screw up a good board, at least we won't fall to that problem!
