If this website is to be believed, then the Mormons can match for evil anything that the Catholic schools in Ireland produced.

It has the ring of truth about it to me, though.

I don't really understand those who say that they don't think trying to deconvert people is a good idea.

Anything that takes support away from the LDS, and from Catholicism, from radical Islam, radical Judeism....seems like a good idea to me.

That is horrible child abuse. But I think it is gross exaggeration to call it "gulag". If you read accounts of the Russian gulag it is far, far worse.

The major difference with the industrial schools and Magdalen laundries of Ireland seems to one of scale and societal support. In Ireland the whole system was supported by the state. Children were committed by magistrates and if they ran away were returned by the police. I imagine that in Utah itself there might be a certain amount of state support, but what was done to that kid was interstate kidnapping, which is a federal crime.

I suppose since the Bible commands parents to kill disobedient children, they feel generous to only treat them like criminals or slaves.

Yep, prosecute these kidnapping bastards.
