I'm interested in this nominee more than usual, I suppose, because so little is known about her, and that tends to make people nervous. I'm not exactly nervous myself--just intrigued.

Do y'all think her lack of judging experience is critical?

How about her DADT leanings?

I see zero problems with her, I think she'll make a fine justice. Many SCOTUS judges have had no prior experience on the bench, including IIRC William Rehnquist.

Think: Chief Justice Warren. Never a justice before becoming a Supreme.

Louis Brandeis. Never a justice before becoming a Supreme.

Wait...Here. (http://www.csmonitor.com/CSM-Photo-Galleries/Lists/Supreme-Court-Justices-with-no-prior-judicial-experience) They have pictures.

A piece speculating on her attitude to abortion:

Bill O'Really of FOX Noise reckons its important to know if kagan is a homosexual, to know how she will deal with homosexual rights.

But if we dont need to know what the rest of the Supreme's sexuality is, why should she be singled out?

Another case of the right (fair balanced and unafraid?) getting scared shitless they wont get their own way.

Bill O'Fucking Reilly... god I hate that twat. I take comfort in the fact that I know that his death will surely involve a cardiac arrest occurring during some heated interview he has with a homosexual or minority over a rights issue. Can't you just see that he's the type who enjoys being beaten off by little boys in Nazi youth uniforms? Am I the only one who sees that... it's clear as day.

Here's his eternal wisdom in action on the issue of gay marriage...

I have some issues, based mostly on things I've read from her past positions. I would have preferred Woods, I think, but Kagan is a reasonable, if not ideal, nominee.

Dispatches from the Culture Wars blog has a lot of entries on Kagan's nomination, and is my go-to site for all things Judicial. :)

For some reason, it got posted in Religion, but see this thread (http://secularcafe.org/showthread.php?t=6837).

Or maybe a mod could merge them?
