This was rather sudden, as activity had died down over the last few weeks.

It had gone from code orange to code yellow, but is now code red.

Wow. It's going to be an interesting spring and summer with all that ash in the atmosphere.

I wonder if it might affect the climate in a positive way for the better. For a short time, anyway.

The guys on the case don't seem to think it will have a significant effect on climate, even in the short term.

Nothing Pinatubo sized - not yet anyway.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory has posted pictures of the eruptions here (http://www.avo.alaska.edu/volcanoes/volcact.php?volcname=Redoubt&page=images&eruptionid=610&limit=1), including some really cool pictures of lightning generated by the ash plume.

Wow, you sure that's not a picture of Mount Doom from The Lord of the Rings?

Cool Pic!

I wonder if Gov. Bobby Jindal realizes how much of an ass this makes him look after making fun of volcano monitoring? Probably not.

Here's an article on why volcano monitoring should not be sneered at. (http://www.seattlepi.com/connelly/404216_joel25ww.html?source=mypi)

Thanks to "something called volcano monitoring," to use the denigrating language of Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, passenger jets did not fly into ash clouds when Alaska's Mount Redoubt erupted earlier this week.

The GOP snears at all responsible governing.

Finally, at least slightly more than have the voting public is tired of their shit.
