Yay!
On the local news they showed it and interviewed a rep from the local humanists!!! It's on I95 and more will be going up!!!!
The billboard says: "Don't believe in God? You are not alone."
The it goes on about the humanists web site.:notworthy:
I was SO happy to see this!
That is really encouraging. I think the trouble for a lot of unbelievers in the States is that so many of them grew up in religious families, realised on their own that they had stopped believing, and then felt totally isolated and obliged to pretend to be a believer. This sort of thing, plus the "Four Horsemen" has made it clear that they are plenty of unbelievers spread around.

Good message there. Short and sweet, and (most importantly) nothing pseudo-religious about it.
And there's no way of construing it as attacking anyone.

I believe this to be very true ^...
I know I have felt very isolated, though my husband and son are atheists, as well. That is why I chose to become a part of the on-line secular community.
The man they interviewed said that non-theists are still very "moral." I loved it. :)
I hope my son's girlfriend has to drive by it everyday!!!!!

Oh I'm sure someone will find a way to claim that the billboard is attacking/ offending/ oppressing/ antagonizing/ trampling on rights/ stigmatizing/ vexing/ scoffing at/ begrudging, them and their beliefs.:bang:

10 to 1 it gets vandalized.
But...I think it's just perfect. :)

I love it! No smarminess. Just a simple caring message. Beautiful!

I like that one too. If the Atlanta Freethought Society hadn't spent so much money on a building or if my fellow Georgia Humanists were more generous, we could probably do something like that here. I'd love to see a sign like that on MARTA. ( Atlanta's crappy mass transit ) There are far more godless heathens in the south than most people realize. How 'bout: Georgia, not just for Christians anymore. :)

I have that slogan (post 1) on a sticker...but I can't decide which car to stick it on.
Georgia, not just for Christians anymore.
Hmm....I thought our unofficial state slogan was 'Hey y'all; watch this!" ;)

Goldie, can you take a photo of the sign and either post it or email it to me.
I very much like the personal touch of these grassroots efforts.

Stick one like that on a car here in West Texas and you'd probably get a window smashed - if you were lucky.

But by whom? Surely not followers of Jesus?

Oh... I didn't catch the whole story, but some people are already whining about it. One guy put a sign out at his business that says: You are not alone. God.
Look, no one bitched when they had their "god" billboards everywhere. I think they need to STFU.

They need to do that, but they won't. So it's best just to ignore them. The message on the billboard is what is important.

True, that.
10 yrs ago...you would not have seen any billbord like that...anywhere.
I knew some people would react negatively...but it goes a long way toward making non-theism acceptable in this country. The more people see it, hear it...the more acceptable it becomes.
