Default Idiot christians turn anti-bullying law into bully protection act

http://freethoughtblogs.com/pharyngu...+Pharyngula%29

Apparently it's OK to bully others in Michigan if you do it out of religious conviction.

It took me a few seconds to figure out what a "Xtian" was. This is an international website, so a first thought was "Is that Vietnamese like Xuan Mai?"

Okay, back on topic. The measure is obviously inadequate. OTOH, the link was obviously written by someone who loves to bash both Republicans and Christians. I guess he doesn't understand the wisdom of "two wrongs don't make a right".

It is pretty typical of Christians - at least the conservative type - to feel persecuted when they are prevented from persecuting others.

IMHO, that is as prejudicial and biased as those you are accusing. Yes, there are some really obnoxious, over-bearing people out there, but there is no way they constitute the majority.

Take group, any group, of 100 people and I'm sure there will be a handful of jerks in there. These jerks will talk loudly, be overbearing, be pushy and do all the other things jerks do. Now, does this mean the entire group is like them? Should we treat then entire group with disdain because a handful of them are assholes?

If the people of Michigan are happy with this turn of events, then isn't that their choice? If they aren't, isn't it up to them to do something about it? I hope they do voice concern over the inadequacies and bias of this recent legislation, but let's not start slamming all of them or all of Christians just because a few legislators passed a screwed up law.

In various countries we do see many Christians claiming they are victimised and trying to claim they are a persecuted minority. (Rather difficult when there's such a lot of them.)

Hmm, I just has a version of this applied to me at another web forum in regard to protecting trolls. Apparently there you can't point them out. As a result you may see more of me around here.

Agreed. I've seen it too, but also know that Christians don't have a monopoly on whining.

*scans the thread again*

I'm pretty sure no one here said that they do. Now shush, the adults are trying to have a conversation.

Good to hear, but it probably never would have survived if tested in Federal court.

True, but who is to blame for that?
