Default Catholic priest projected gay porn to ‘horrified’ primary school parents

Quote:
A Catholic priest in Northern Ireland is under investigation after accidentally displaying a series of gay porn images to parents at a primary school meeting.

Father Martin McVeigh said he had no knowledge of the gay pictures that were displayed instead of the Powerpoint instructions on Holy Communion he had been intending to project.

The 26 parents of pupils St Mary’s School in Pomeroy, Co Tyrone who attended the meeting last week said the priest had inserted a memory stick into a computer linked up to the school projector system but rather than Eucharistic guidance for children, they witnessed graphic images of men.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said there was no immediate evidence a crime had taken place.

A statement issued by the parents present said Father McVeigh was “visibly shaken and flustered” after the Powerpoint presentation went awry.

It continued: “He gave no explanation or apology to the group and bolted out of the room. The co-ordinator and the teachers then continued with the presentation.

Default RC Priest's powerpoint presentation shocks parents

Merged from similar thread

From the BBC News Website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-17582542

Quote:
An investigation is under way after indecent images were "inadvertently" shown by a Catholic priest during a presentation at a primary school in County Tyrone.

Father Martin McVeigh projected the images onto a screen during a meeting for parents in Pomeroy in preparation for First Holy Communion. One child was also present.

Parents said 16 indecent images of men were displayed. The priest said he had no knowledge of the offending imagery.
Quote:
"The priest has stated that he had no knowledge of the offending imagery. The archdiocese immediately sought the advice of the PSNI who indicated that, on the basis of the evidence available, no crime had been committed.
So it appears Father McVeigh is claiming he knew nothing about the photos in question.

It is always possible that he wasn't hugely IT literate and asked someone to set up the powerpoint for him who then decided to set him up for fun (it wouldn't be the first time I've inserted an embarrassing photo or message in someone's slideshow for a giggle). Part of the reason you should always have a quick check of your material before starting.

But, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a bit more to the story...

See that's the thing. Part of me wishes (paradoxically) that it was, so we could throw a couple more rocks in the rcc's direction.

My schadenfreude corpuscle hopes it was a malicious little hack.

Much as I'm experiencing schadenfreude at a priest's discomfort, in fairness, it's possible that this happened inadvertently if he hasn't taken adequate malware precautions. Even more so if he was still running windoze XP. There are so many security holes in XP, that it's possible to get infected just by going on the internet - you don't even have to click on anything.

But I bet he's just a gay priest.

I think I've just figured out what happened here...

Priests generally have the image of a scantily clad male who is clearly participating in some form of 'particularly edgy' BDSM practice appearing behind them when they're working....

Perhaps this priest was just looking at potential 'new company logos'...a little modern corporate re-branding perhaps? I mean the whole crucifixion is just so 2000 years ago

Sure! I mean, Jebus got fucked by Poncius 'The butt pirate' Pilate after all. And took it in the arrrse for everyone else. He even got a massive erection specially tailored and um, dragged it for all to see.

I don't whether the church would agree that 'child pictures' would be worse....

I can't decide which would be better. Was it a switched drive, or a clever hack, by some wickedly humorous skeptic? Or was it a gay priest who accidentally outed himself when he got his files mixed up?

Either one is worth major grins!

See, this is why you never tell ther person making up your presentation to: "Just grab some pictures from my computer"*

*I've been told that more than a few times when making PP presentations for my various bosses.

The priest explained how he had immediately removed the memory stick from the laptop.

"In my shock and upset and in my concern to ensure that the images would never be shown again, I destroyed it later that evening," he added.
Quote:
Cardinal Brady also explained that there had been an investigation into the computers used by Fr McVeigh.

"These have been forensically examined by an independent technical expert and no inappropriate imagery has been found," he said.

"However an additional laptop, which was located in the sacristy, was stolen in the period following the 26 March meeting with parents.

"This stolen laptop did not form part the technical examination and its theft was reported to the PSNI."
Is it just me or does it stink to high heaven that both his memory stick and laptop are now conveniently unavailable?

I would have extended the benefit of the doubt of these being his images previously. Damn sure they were his now.

Pen, I hope you're not insinuating that the RCC would attempt to cover up anything which may embarrass them or be anything less than truthful?

I thought at first maybe someone played a joke on him but that doesn't explain how he managed to show 16 images (presumably on more than one slide) - you would think even if he hadn't checked beforehand he would stop as soon as he realised there was something up.

Sixteen at, say, one every 5 seconds, that's one minute twenty, a bloody long time to stand in front of an unhappy crowd with their mouths wide open... Maybe he got confused and thought he was talking to the choirboys or something

I think the 16 images were probably thumbnails, if you have your window sized right, that's 4 by 4 showing as thumbnails. Of course, when projected onto a screen, thumbnails are still pretty large....large enough to apparently be obvious what the pics actually are.

It's be funny if there really were 16 slides though. Imagine the guy giving his speech blandly, unaware of unfortunate correlations going on behind him.

"And here we see that sacramental practice is far more robust on the West Coast, especially among our younger members. These young men clearly understand how the Body of Christ is present in their lives! I have confirmed this myself, in person, with frequency. It is to be noted that fewer commune by inserting their bread into the chalice however, with many preferring the direct oral method."
