Poly and others, kindly clarify. John my have said that. But I read that in the Jewish books only prophets are sons of God and not every one.

Or kings. This is true. It is more an honorarium than a literal description of family relationship, in the Hebrew Scriptures, and accorded to a select set of people.

Interesting discussion. Takes me back to my 221 days in the Dewey system. I suspect Desmond got as close to the truth as possible via conjecture, in "The Naked Ape." All primates lean toward one dominant leader.

This anthropologist thinks that is a rather steep oversimplification of primate politicking.

Poli is correct. For one example, bonobos don't have a single leader. All of the older females are the leaders and they know how to put any nasty male in his place.

So, come on back guys, my popcorn is getting soggy.

Sorry Sohy, I think we all decided that the answer to the question in the OP is "It doesn't".

I always questioned the wording anyway. I think it should be "why would it matter", since the use of "does" kinda implies that it, er, does matter.

That's not important. Entertaining me is what's important.

1ICrying, I don't know if you've noticed the discussions we've been having about merging the Secular Cafe board with Talk Freethought. When that happens, we'll be moving the active threads here to that board; this one will be moved. Your membership there may require you to sign on and set a password. We haven't set a firm date for the merger, but if you still want to carry on this discussion, it would be a good idea for you to go ahead and sign on there.
